Casey is a sweet, playful little guy that found himself in a quite a situation a few weeks ago. Calls from concerned motorists on the Bulkley Bridge, that connects Hartford CT to East Hartford CT, were being received by the State Police. There was a kitten/young cat on the Bridge, injured and in need of rescue! The State troopers retrieved him safely and he was brought to Protectors of Animals.

Casey was treated immediately at the vet and his very injured leg was casted. One possibility was amputation, the other, an expensive surgery to help him keep his leg. POA’s team believed that Casey, so young..so good natured, deserved that possibility..to keep his leg. We were preparing ourselves for the expense of up to $5000.00. We had some excellent developments over the weekend and Casey actually had his surgery yesterday. The vet was able to rebreak the ankle and place pins in it. With Casey’s initial visit, the surgery and follow up care, we anticipate the cost to be less…but still $2950.00

Casey is back at the shelter on cat bed rest in the medical area for as long as he needs.

So yes, not as expensive, but we, and Casey can sure use your help. Thank you for any donation that you can make towards Casey’s medical costs. Thank you for championing this young boy’s care! He is now safe and steps closer to a forever home..on all four paws!
